چکیده

A novel digital signal processing (DSP)-based scheme for physical layer security in coherent optical communication systems is proposed and numerically investigated. The encryption accomplished by two dispersive elements one phase modulator (PM) driven a DSP-generated key, whilst decryption uses similar components but with inverted dispersion values keys. critical aspect of the DSP-based that keys, driving PMs to hide/recover data signals, must be highly unpredictable noise-like, thus orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) signals are employed as they possess these characteristics, can also easily generated cover suitably wide range unique Numerical simulations conducted determine optimum system parameters achieving high level security, key requiring optimization bandwidth Using determined parameters, in-depth investigations undertaken encryption/decryption induced transmission performance penalties, sensitives various parameter offsets operation over distances. To observe any dependencies, metrics investigated different combinations modulation formats (DQPSK 16QAM) baud rates (40 Gbaud 100 Gbaud) transmitted signals. shown have potential achieve, low-cost effective manner, acceptable penalties existing systems.

Coherent Optical Communication Systems

The rapid evolution of long-haul optical communications systems, witnessed in the last five years, is due to the gradual adoption of spectrally efficient, multilevel modulation formats, in conjunction with polarization division multiplexing (PDM) and coherent intradyne detection assisted by digital signal processing (DSP). The objective of this tutorial chapter is to briefly review the operatin...

Physical-layer network coding in coherent optical OFDM systems.

We present the first experimental demonstration and characterization of the application of optical physical-layer network coding in coherent optical OFDM systems. It combines two optical OFDM frames to share the same link so as to enhance system throughput, while individual OFDM frames can be recovered with digital signal processing at the destined node.

Physical Layer Security in Wireless Communication Networks

Physical layer (PHY) security has become an emerging area of research recently. Wireless networks use unguided medium as communication channels, so gathering wireless data transmission is easier when compared to traditional cable systems. With the rise of new security challenges, many different solutions have been offered and are being developed. However, maintaining security in wireless networ...

Physical Encoding in Optical Layer Security

Data security at the physical layer of optical networks, or optical layer security, has received considerable research attention due to the rapid growth of optical network capacity [1]. Among various optical layer approaches, optical codedivision multiple access (OCDMA) systems are considered to be promising because of the physical encoding and decoding processes comprising these systems. Gener...
